Speedlane will typically give you 30-80% more Internet speed through the use of this screen. Because each Internet connection is different, we have provided an array of choices for you. By experimenting with various choices you can be sure to get the maximum possible optimization.

Select one button appropriate for your Internet connection and press OK. Choose Automatic if not sure. If on a modem, also experiment with Modem 2, 3, 4. For more detailed control, click 'Expert' button on bottom and follow the instructions accessible through the 'Help' button.

By selecting one of these settings, you instruct Speedlane to change 11 internal parameters to fit your particular situation. You can then press the Expert button to refine these settings even further.

Windows defaults
This option will allow you to re-set all parameters to their original values when the operating system was fresh installed.

Startup values
This option will re-set all parameters to the values they had before this version of Speedlane was installed. If you had another version of Speedlane before, or if you had modified the parameters in the registry then this setting will be different from the Windows default setting.

Expert settings
If you had modified the parameters through the Expert menu, this selection will be shown. Do not select it. Rather press the Expert button at the bottom of the screen.

Modem settings, etc...
Select the connection type you are using and use the first setting.
Most users find great success with the first setting. If you feel that the speed improvements should be greater, experiment with different settings. See the help under the Tools menu for instructions how to measure speed.
You will need to re-boot the computer in order for the new settings to become effective.

OK
Press this button to instruct Speedlane to set the internal parameters according to you selected modem type.

Cancel
Press this button if you want to cancel everything you did on this screen.

Help
Press this button to show this help screen. As we get more comments from users we will improve the information available on this screen, so come back here from time to time.

Expert
This button gives you total control over the Windows-internal para- meters that Speedlane modifies for you. It has its own help screen that guides you in setting them.
